June 18-20, 2021 – Athens Ohio
We are pleased to announce our first DDOC Weekend Ride Event for 2021 – The DDOC WINDY 9 Weekend ADVENTURE. This will be a weekend riding event featuring a ride beginning in the Detroit Area on June 18 taking us to our destination in Athens Ohio. The route to Athens will feature some interesting twisty roads leading us to our lodging destination for the weekend – THE OHIO UNIVERSITY INN www.ouinn.com. The DDOC Windy 9 Adventure is available to all DDOC ACTIVE MEMBERS so please be sure to RENEW your membership if you haven’t already done so at docdetroit.wpengine.com and click on the JOIN/RENEW TAB.
Saturday, June 19 will be the core day of riding on some of the best roads in SE Ohio which have been developed by the OHIO WINDY 9 organization. That organization is sponsored by the Athens Chamber of Commerce to promote Motorcycle Riding in the area. The organization provides route maps, GPS files, as well as lodging and dinning locations friendly to the motorcycling community. Please take a few minutes to check out their website at www.windy9.com to take a look at videos of the roads we’ll be riding as well as the other resources available.
We will RIDE BACK to the Detroit Area on Sunday, June 20 taking another fun route back.
We have reserved a block of rooms at the Ohio University Inn for the nights of June 18 and 19 at the rate of $129 per night for either a King with Pull out sofa OR two double beds. The hotel features an excellent restaurant, bar, patio and pool. The Windy 9 package provided by the Inn includes breakfast each morning, Windy 9 Maps and Patch, a motorcycle wash.
As the first STEP we are asking those who would like to attend this event to RSVP to David Bonskey no later than MONDAY, MARCH 15. We will assemble and distribute a list of those planning to attend. PLEASE INDICATE WHETHER YOU WOULD LIKE TO SHARE A ROOM OR PREFER YOUR OWN ROOM in your RSVP. Once the attendees list is distributed, members can select and contact their intended room mate if so desired. Please let us know so we can keep the list up to date and shared with the WINDY 9 event participants.
I will need to confirm the number of rooms we expect to need to the Ohio University Inn ASAP so please be sure to RVSP IF YOU PLAN TO ATTEND NO LATER THAN MONDAY, MARCH 15. After that you can begin to make your own reservations at the OHIO UNIVERSITY INN at 866-593-6661. Please be sure to tell that that you are part of the DETROIT DESMO OWNERS group.
Remember you can earn 100 points in the 2021 DDOC Rally by participating in the DDOC Windy 9 Adventure.
With the opportunity to ride some of the best roads around and spend two evenings dining and socializing with your fellow DDOC members this will be an OUTSTANDING EVENT.
