Beginning Thursday June 8 and concluding on Sunday June 11 we held our 3rd annual DOCD Windy 9 Adventure. 20 riders and one spouse participated in the event. The Windy 9 Adventure featured 4 days of riding, both to and from Athens Ohio, as well as the core of the event – two days of riding on some absolutely AMAZING roads in Southeast Ohio. “
Mornings began at 7:00 am with riders gathering for breakfast and to discuss each group’s riding plans for the day. Friday and Saturday’s routes consisted of some of the BEST roads many of us have ridden, easily rivaling the roads in North Carolina, Tennessee, West Virginia featuring the beautiful Southeast Ohio rolling hills and bucolic landscapes and fantastic twisty roads with racetrack like road surfaces. Each of the groups returned to the OU Inn around 5:00 pm each day and enjoyed cool beverages and the Inn’s swimming pool.”
Sunday morning saw the group preparing for departure, either to ride home to Michigan or to trailer to the Mid-Ohio raceway for the Track Day sponsored by Ducati Detroit. Throughout the weekend Mother Nature smiled upon us with near perfect weather – sunny skies and temperatures in the 70’s to low 80’s.
The DOCD 2023 Windy 9 Adventure remains our club’s signature extended riding event continues to provide our members the opportunity to ride on some of the best roads in the Eastern US as well as to spend and entire weekend enjoying the often hilarious post ride social time, great food and of course extended time with our fellow Ducatisti and close DOCD friends.
